As a former foundation director and program designer of C-suite level leadership development classes, Megan understands not only the needs of high net worth individuals, but has acute attention to detail in planning travel programs, an innate sense of budget stewardship and offers a high value experience. In addition, Megan, her team and affiliated colleagues travel extensively throughout the year exploring not only new destinations but tried and true favorites. We sleep in the hotels, travel utilizing the same cars/trains/boats our clients will experience, meet the guides and partake in excursions and tours so we can make first-hand recommendations to our clients.
We collaborate with our clients and in-country partners to provide customized travel itineraries designed specially for each client. Our proposals are created to allow for meaningful experiences to engage with other countries, cultures and people. And our world-wide team of elite travel partners helps us execute intricate logistics to ensure each experience runs smoothly.
We work with a small group of clients that have high expectations for their time away and understand the value of curated travel experiences, access to increased benefits in luxury accommodations and the service included in trip creation, delivery and oversight. We love the opportunity to plan multiple travel experiences for our clients over time ultimately creating relationships with them where we can anticipate their needs and preferences before they do! Our strong world-wide networks give our clients access to the best guides, drivers and travel experiences.
We specialize in seamless and unique travel across the globe. The cost to have this experience varies depending upon destination, duration of travel and level of privatization and oversight.
Not including airfare, most client trips (that involve full itinerary creation) start at approximately $1000 per person per day. This is a rough starting point to give a sense of an average budget to consider, but will ultimately depend upon destination, time of travel, level of hotel and scope of services provided.
Travel advisors are paid via commissions included in hotel rates and services. If clients are booking hotel-only stays, advisor commission is included in the best available rate shown online - therefore there is no extra cost to book hotels directly through us and in many instances we are able to add increased value to your reservations!
When we are providing a full trip itinerary for clients, our partners use wholesale rates for accommodations and services and our commission is built into the trip total. In this scenario, while pricing may not be itemized, our clients are receiving SO much more than just the transactional booking - clients receive our colleagues’ and our expertise in planning, execution of all trip components and support during travel.
Veering from the industry norm, Megan Winslett Travel does not charge fees for consultations, hotel bookings or trip planning services. We are privileged to assist a curated portfolio of clients with whom we have developed relationships with through multiple, repeat travel experiences. In this way, we feel we are fairly compensated for our time and expertise without passing along additional fees to our clients.
The short answer is, it depends 😀 A number of factors determine the length of time it takes from the time a client reaches out to us for a trip inquiry to the time of a completed trip proposal - including how far in advance of departure you’ve contacted us, number of included countries and number of travelers and revisions required. Sometimes, additional circumstances can affect our turn-around, such as an emergency from a currently traveling client or a trip request during a holiday or traditionally busy travel period.
Yes! While we love to dive into all the nooks and crannies of planning a full trip itinerary for our clients, we are also happy to assist with hotel-only reservations. At most of the luxury hotels across the globe, we can provide additional amenities to our clients at the same best available rate you’ll find online, such as daily breakfast for two, hotel credit and upgrade if available.
We are not AI or a credit card conglomerate behind a hotel booking - we advocate personally at each hotel for our clients and we spend time traveling the globe getting to know hotel leadership personally. To hoteliers, our clients are more than a reservation number.
We can either provide hotel options to consider based on location and preferences, or you can click HERE to create your own Virtuoso profile under our credentials and book online independently (and still receive all of the extra amenities)!
Absolutely. We work with most of the major upper tier and luxury cruise lines around the world and we are happy to assist with a cruise proposal based on client preferences and book cruise vacations on our clients’ behalf. Much like the luxury hotel program, we can extend extra value-added amenities to many cruise reservations.
Yes. Most of the trips we plan (not including hotel-only bookings) require a final, nonrefundable payment several months prior to departure. Trip insurance provides peace of mind for unexpected illness, injury, travel delay and a myriad of other unforeseeable events. Together with our in-country partners, we hold firm to the clearly stated terms and conditions provided with each confirmed trip itinerary.
We do not book any trip components utilizing client points or miles, as this is not our area of expertise.
